History:
Logos (Greek for 'Word') was formed in the late 1970’s and comprises folk from all walks of life in the Gosport area. The people in the church are from many different backgrounds and ages, including some from other church traditions and many with no previous Christian involvement.
Logos is a community church which is built on the small community groups meeting regularly midweek throughout the year. Church meetings take place in the church centre at Copse Lane, Rowner.
Church Relationships.
Logos Community Church receives apostolic oversight from Franz Lippi, leader of the BLAST ministry stream based in Graz Austria .
We have close friendships with local churches through Gosport Churches Together, particularly our sister church Lee Community Church.

The Church is a registered charity, number 291679 and a member of the Evangelical Alliance and Gosport Churches Together.
The Church Mission:
-To worship God
-To love and equip one another
-To reach God's world
We believe in...
1. The one true God who lives eternally in three persons—the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
2. The love, grace and sovereignty of God in creating, sustaining, ruling, redeeming and judging the world.
3. The divine inspiration and supreme authority of the Old and New Testament Scriptures, which are the written Word of God—fully trustworthy for faith and conduct.
4. The dignity of all people, made male and female in God's image to love, be holy and care for creation, yet corrupted by sin, which incurs divine wrath and judgement.
5. The incarnation of God’s eternal Son, the Lord Jesus Christ—born of the virgin Mary; truly divine and truly human, yet without sin.
6. The atoning sacrifice of Christ on the cross: dying in our place, paying the price of sin and defeating evil, so reconciling us with God.
7. The bodily resurrection of Christ, the first fruits of our resurrection; his ascension to the Father, and his reign and mediation as the only Saviour of the world.
8. The justification of sinners solely by the grace of God through faith in Christ.
9. The ministry of God the Holy Spirit, who leads us to repentance, unites us with Christ through new birth, empowers our discipleship and enables our witness.
10. The Church, the body of Christ both local and universal, the priesthood of all believers—given life by the Spirit and endowed with the Spirit's gifts to worship God and proclaim the gospel, promoting justice and love.
11. The personal and visible return of Jesus Christ to fulfil the purposes of God, who will raise all people to judgement, bring eternal life to the redeemed and eternal condemnation to the lost, and establish a new heaven and new earth.
Statement Of Faith:
The Life Of The Church:
- Worship To worship the Almighty God, individually and as a body, as the first and most important element of church life. Mark 12: 28.
- Discipleship To build-up all believers to maturity in the faith, following Paul’s declared aim “to present all men perfect in Christ.” Colossians 1: 28.
- Evangelism To fulfil the great commission of the Lord Jesus Christ, through friendship, one-to-one evangelism and programmes of outreach. Matthew 28: 19-20
- Expressing God's Love We seek to follow Jesus example by acts of compassion and love to those around us, and to those further afield, through the support of other missions and charities. James 2: 14-16.
- Community The vision of the church as a body of disciples who share their lives, providing help, ministry, support and encouragement to each other. Acts 2: 42-47
- Prayer The essential accompaniment to all aspects of church life and our individual Christian lives. 1 Thessalonians 5: 16-18
Marks Of Membership:
The Church has no membership list. Church members demonstrate their commitment by their actions. The fully committed church member will display marks of membership in a number of ways.
- Commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ Church members have repented of their sin (the state of rebellion against God) and dead works (anything which does not result from our faith in the Lord). They have decided to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and commit their lives to Him. Mark 1:15.
- Commitment to one another The church is an expression of the body of Christ. Church members are committed to loving and serving one another (John 15: 12,13) and will meet together regularly. Ephesians 1: 22,23.
- Recognition of authority Church members recognise that Jesus delegated His authority to ‘elders’ whose task is to ‘rule well’ (1 Timothy 5:17). Church leadership is made up of a small group of people whose God-given task is the leadership of the church in accordance with scripture. Hebrews 13:17.
Faith for finances In God’s kingdom we know that God is the source of all our provision (Romans 8:32 and Philippians 4:19) - including money. One of God’s conditions for living in the fullness of His abundance is that we should know how to give generously from what we have received. Luke 6:38.
Members give financially in two main ways:
- Tithing - this stems from the scriptural practice of giving one tenth of all earned income to the Lord. (Gen 14;20 Lev 27:30 Num 18:21-24 Deut 14:28,29). This provides the finances for the activities of the church.
- Freewill Offerings - These are given in addition to tithes for specific purposes such as gifts to the needy, support for outside ministries and evangelism.
- Service Practical service is as important as giving financially (although not an alternative to it). Members serve the church in a number of ways - organising events, running youth work and Sunday school, domestics, administration, cleaning and maintenance, transport, music group, operation of PA, offering hospitality, hosting prayer meetings and community groups and many more. Ephesians 4: 11,12
- Participation in the life of the Church Members participate in the life of the church in its various forms of which the Community Group is one of the most important. Every church member belongs to one of these small groups which meet in members homes in the evenings or during the daytime. Community Groups aim to encourage personal commitment and holiness, build-up the individual and are a prayer power-house, essential to church life. Members also participate in the variety of other activities - for example Sunday morning and evening meetings, outreach activities such as Mothers and Toddlers mornings, senior citizens coffee mornings, youth outreach evenings, pastoral and administrative meetings and Alpha courses. Hebrews 10:25
- Going on to maturity The apostle Paul was very concerned that believers went on to maturity in order to be fit for God’s purposes and to be able to take their place in the spiritual battle (Eph 6). Logos Church members recognise that in becoming Christians they have not ‘arrived’ but are ‘on the road’ and are determined to go on to maturity in Christ. Phil 3:12-15
